It certainly has been a while. Not much has changed...we still bring the mellow mosh. We have a few more less than "successful" shows under our belt (it's a good thing we don't mind playing for 10 kids in a dive venue). We've been working on what will most likely become our debut EP with our long-time friend Kris engineering for us. We're slowly but surely tracking 6 songs with him, and so far everything has been moving forward swimmingly. He has a good idea of what our band should sound like on record and thus far has done a terrific job getting that sound to tape. Aside from that we continue to write, perform, argue, and party as a band. I'll post more exciting news when we have some.

End Transmission.

We changed our name. We were never really happy as The Ballerina Shuffle, but we were too lazy/uncreative to come up with anything we could all be happy with. Finally a name came up that everybody got excited over and we went with it. Jezebel may not be the most original name in the world, but it has a nice ring to it and we're better than any other n00b band that might use it. We try to keep religious and political themes out of our band, but we did cop Jezebel from a biblical reference. A few people have already asked what it means, and while it doesn't mean much in the context we use it...I'm sure you can google it to see where it originated.

Hollywood. Round two. This time we headed further south (or west, east, north...whatever) down Sunset Blvd and "headlined" the Roxy. By headlined, of course, I mean we played last...which in the case of no-name bands such as ourselves and our showmates...means we played to the 20-30 bar flys that actually stuck around after stomaching a night of sub-par music.

We should have known we were in for a less than perfect outing when we got stuck in traffic for about 30 mins on the Cajon Pass. Traffic jam, 7:00pm, Thursday, 15-S...fucking bullshit. The traffic was only mildly irritating though and not nearly as large of a pain in the ass as the rainstorm we started driving through for about 60 miles right as traffic finally broke up. The rain wasn't anything overly heavy, but the not so adequate windshield wipers made some of those larger curves an interesting way to play some good old fashioned "let's see if we can make it through this strecth of road without bumper kissing the median." We arrived safely and on time despite nature and southern California's best efforts to spite us.

The Roxy decided they would finish what nature and CA drivers couldn't do. They wouldn't let us into the venue when we arrived...not even to pee. We were pissed (what a shitty pun). On top of that they had no place for us to park, and they won't let us unload our gear. Fuck. After some scuffle, we hustled the valet into letting us have one of the 4 or 5 open parking spaces that we "aren't supposed to use". He in turn hustled us out of a parking fee.

we got drunk in the van, like we always do. Friends started showing up and getting drunk with us. It was a typical Shuffle parking lot good time. When show time came we realized that 3 out of the 5 of us had drank a little more than we realized...and we were drunk. The sound guy was awesome though, and although he didn't do the greatest sound, he dialed up the best sound The Shuffle has ever had live. Nice guy too, made a point of talking to us both before and after our set.

The set went well enough, we screwed up here and there...no doubt largely due to our blood alcohol levels. All in all we had a good time...and that is, afterall, why we do this, right? Right. Another after-party was hosted by our good friend and #1 L.A. connection Billy. Nobody takes better care of us than that guy. Huge thanks to all our friends that braved the weather and the drive to come support us. We hope you guys had as much fun as we did...we'll see ya next time!

p.s. Heather (i think...i'm terrible with names) is the coolest. I don't mean just a cool person to hang out with either. I mean she's the coolest...cooler than you, n00b. Lyle, Chris, and myself owe our safe ride home to her. We love you...

Our hometown show went off without a hitch. We got screwed into playing first, but it was actually a pretty good deal. The poor second band had to load and unload from stage though the sea of kids that are less than sympathetic to the fact that it's hard to squeeze a guitar cab through that many trends all converging on the same dance floor. We had fun (as per usual) and played pretty well. Smoking a bowl literally seconds before I take stage I've decided is a bad idea, however, as I become pretty complacent with just standing with my back to the crowd and not really interacting with even my own band.

Thanks to LD for putting us on.

Riverside kids are morons with horrible taste in music. We hate playing Tremors. They give us one free drink each and try their hardest to convince us that we can't drink Fat Tire with our drink ticket because it's an import beer. Imported from Ft. Collins Colorado huh, genius? The sound guy would have trouble dialing up a decent sound on a digital radio, and if one more overweight faggot in a family guy t-shirt compares our band to Evanescence I just might have to castrate him with a coke bottle in hopes that his defective genes won't be spread.

On a lighter note, I drank a bottle of Merlot my boss gave me for xmas last night. We had fun (like we always do) despite the poor show and conditions under which we had to play it. We're playing our home town for the first time next week and we're all really excited about that. If any place can sound worse than Tremors in Riverside, it's probably the Trilogy in Victorville...but with enough of our friends there and the extra amount of time we're gonna have to drink since the venue is 5 minutes away it won't matter what we sound like. Yeah...

My last 3 or 4 entries have mysteriously gone MIA and nobody seems to know what happened to them. Fucking weak. In happier news, we were namedropped on local radio today. X103.9 is plugging some show we're playing on Dec. 22nd in Riverside...so chances are if you listen to lame ass radio rock you'll hear our name sometime bewteen now and then. It's exciting and all...but try to compose yourselves.

P.S. I'm offering a reward of blowjobs, coke whores, and piggy-back rides to whomever figures out where the fuck my entries went. You can't see a picture of me cheek kissing Lyle just anywhere God damnit!!!

Recording is underway, and I'm happy to announce that our first song is tracked and completely out of the band's hands now. Randy (our coolest of the cool recording engineer) is busy working his mixing/mastering magic so it'll be posted for your ears soon enough. Recording has again proven to be the most fun you can have while bored out of your skull. Anyone that thinks sitting around doing next to nothing for 8 hours except taking periodic breaks to smoke isn't exhausting should spend a couple days recording music. All boredom aside though, it's a process we all enjoy and look forward to getting back to as quick and as often as possible.

The song we have finished is called "Form a Line" (you may recall having heard it if you're not a n00b and actually come out to see us play). We should have the mix back from Randy mid-week, so look for it to be posted by this weekend at the latest. We also have some more pictures of the recording process on their way (but Lyle's the picture guy...so I'm sure we'll be seeing those sometime before Hell freezes over).

Like I said, check the Space for tracks, they'll be coming as fast as we can crank them out. Also, if any of you, our loyal readers, need recording work done...get ahold of us and we'll refer you to Randy (he's in Redlands, CA). Dude's super nice, and not too shabby at the whole recording thing either.

Keep it posi, intraweb.

We supposedly have a bunch of really excellent live pictures that Jessica's awesome, bearded, professional photographer friend shot...but Lyle is neglecting to post them. More than half the band hasn't even seen them yet. But rest assured that I have been assured that they are awesome. I'll keep bugging Lyle daily and he'll keep ignoring my requests until he's damn good and ready to make with the photos. So, just keep checking our Myspace and Livejournal periodically to (hopefully, eventually) see some (apparently) great stills of how rad we all are in action. Or you can head to Lyle's personal profile and get a preview of how good they are (since, ya know...it's no trouble at all to put the shots of himself he likes on his personal page). It's a good thing I'm totally patient and not sarcastic at all in this post...

We played Hollywood last night. Our first show in the city of the stars. The venue was incredible...a Japanese themed bar/restaurant called Miyagi's on Sunset Blvd. It's a three-story, beautifully constructed place with nooks and secluded tables hidden all over the place. 3 separate bars, great view from the parking lot, awesome people working there...the whole 9 yards. Our friend Billy works there and set up the show for us (huge props and thank you's to Billy for taking such good care of us). It was "acoustic" night, so The Shuffle was the only act that was comprised of more than a single dude with a guitar. Some excellent artists played, however, and we all had a blast sitting at the bar and enjoying an atmosphere different than waiting for 3-4 shitty bands to play so we can have our turn.

A good group of our friends showed up to support us (thanks to you guys as well). We put one once again the best set we've played to date. We even went on to play a new, unfinished song when chants of "encore" came from an unruly table down front. I can't recall a moment quite as rock n roll as hearing a group of cats (even if they were our close friends....there was a few strangers joining in) yell "encore" over the mix of low end and feedback coming from the bass rig after having thrown my instrument to the ground at the end of what I expected to be the last song. Things like that are the experiences which become the memories we wouldn't trade for anything in the world.

An after party was staged (once again by Billy) a few miles from the venue and we all had a great time unwinding with friends new and old. Sing-a-longs, bong hits, beer pong, and quadruple kisses make for a pretty interesting night.

So yeah, if you missed it...you missed out. We tentatively have a few weeks off before we start playing shows again. Hopefully this will give us some time to kick back and work on new material, maybe finely tune some of the old stuff, and hopefully get recording underway. Thanks again to all that have been coming out and supporting us. If you have yet to see The Shuffle...well, what the fuck is your problem? Come out and party with us, otherwise you'll just end up reading another lame livejournal entry about an awesome night you weren't involved in. n00bs.

Stay tuned for more @ 10 to the hour, every hour...

This is our first "official" post. The first post that holds any relevant information and also doesn't inadvertantly lie to the reader (through no fault of our own). We are The Ballerina Shuffle, a band based out the wonderfully boring and barren Mojave Desert in southern California. We don't bother classifying our band, mainly because genres are for assholes. Suffice to say that we are a mellow rock and roll outfit complete with piano/synth and female vocals. If you compare us to Evanescence I just might punch your lights out. Forming as nothing more than a garage project amonsgt friends during the Fall of 2006, The Shuffle is propelled by Lyle's predilection for mid-tempo, pretty, 3 chord progressions. Said progressions are complimented by the catchiest of catchy keys thanks to our resident electro-nerd Zak. Nick solidifies the harmonious union of piano and guitar with a good amount of cymbal trickery between snare hits. After a few weeks in the garage writing and arranging what would become the Shuffle's first few songs, these three realized they had something a bit better than a garage project to kill time and began searching out members to complete the lineup.

Enter Jessica. Luckily the Shuffle needn't look any further than their own friends for members and found Jessica more than ready to start weaving her operatic vocal web around whatever canvas the band provided. The wheels were in motion.

Finding someone to keep the bottom end from falling out proved to be a bit more difficult, however. After a couple attempts at finding an equally interested and qualified bassist The Shuffle finally settled on another old friend to do some fill in work. That's where I come in. Luckily this band doesn't require a seasoned bass master to handle it's low end needs.

All in all we've been doing well over the past few months. Songs are completed, more are on the way. Shows have starting flowing like water, and we have more fun and sound better each time we've taken the stage together. The recording process has hit speed bumps and traffic jams, but will get moving again just as soon as possible. The moment we have something we feel is decent enough to unleash on people's ears the recodings will be available. I suppose that's about all the info necessary for the time being. Show dates and locations can be found on our Myspace.

Carry on....
